The organisers of Eastern Bridal Fair are proud to announce that STERNS JEWELLERS will sponsor the “STERNS Eastern Bridal Fair & Lifestyle Expo” for the next 3 years.
The Fair scored another major coup, securing Indian choreographers, Ankita Maity and Javed Sanadi from India to choreograph, dance, direct and perform together with top Indian local singer, Shay Ramjee in its bumper 20th edition which sees its first-time debut at the New Suncoast Globe at Durban’s North Beach on Women’s Day / long weekend of 9, 10, 11 August 2019.
The Fashion Show/Dance Extravaganza will be choreographed by the popular Indian choreographers, of Latin American, Ballroom, Jazz and Indian Classical of Jhalak Diklaja and Nach Baliye and in Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, and a host of film and television shows. The show is produced by Epic Entertainment in collaboration with the Nateshwar Dance Academy.
The Fair boasts 100 stalls, with exhibitors displaying the latest trends in clothing, and products and services associated with weddings, giving potential brides and grooms the opportunity to select the perfect segments to make their wedding memorable.
With thousands of patrons attending annually, The Eastern Bridal Fair and Lifestyle Expo brings together leading wedding-industry service providers including decorators, planners, travel agencies, local and international clothing brands and boutiques, jewellers; as well as the newly introduced lifestyle elements which include Ayurveda, healthcare, beauty, healing, wellness & other related services.
The 2019 showcase will once again be produced by Epic Entertainment and will feature a soulful amalgamation of Fashion and Indian Contemporary Dance. Durban’s talented Mo Magic is set to captivate audiences in an unforgettable act featuring the art of Magic! Together with local and international brands, it will be our pleasure, for the first time in South Africa, to showcase the prestigious Ritu Kumar Collection.
Ritu Kumar is the largest and most respected designer-wear brand in India today. Since 1969, She has developed a unique style of her own, reflecting the ancient traditions of Indian craftsmanship in a contemporary vocabulary. Ritu Kumar’s understanding of ancient designs and the innovative use of traditional crafts has created a new classicism. Today her company is renowned for its distinctive use of colours, quality of fabrics, intricate embroideries and a gloriously rich Indian aesthetic. Since the company was built on the patronage of craftspeople, it has made a significant impact in creating employment in underdeveloped areas. Ritu Kumar started with just four hand block printers and two tables in a small village near Calcutta. Today her brand has grown with twenty-seven retail stores across India. She is acknowledged as the pioneer of the term ‘fashion’ in the Indian context.

Ritu has also been the recipient of numerous awards such as the ‘Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award’ for her contribution in the field of fashion and was awarded the Padma Shri Award 2013, the country’s fourth highest civilian award for her exceptional and distinguished service in the field of fashion, textile and craftsmanship.

General admission to the Fair costs R90 per person and includes the especially printed 20th annual copy of the 120-page full colour free glossy Eastern Bride Magazine (for all ladies) and free entry to the Fashion Show/Dance Extravaganza which will be performed 10 times over the weekend. Tickets which include reserved seating for the Fashion Show/Dance Extravaganza can be purchased on site at R100.
